Hulilī 2022

8 hours passed.

I was thankful for everyone's patience in waiting for such a long time. By the end, we were all tired, and it was because of that fatigue that everyone's cameras, video, and otherwise were relaxed in our hands and not at the ready. Then, the spirit of King David Kalākaua materialized through the far wall and walked through the room dressed in his royal regalia. He was a tall, beautiful Hawaiian man bearing the countenance of his royal heritage. He walked as his ancestors before him, a tiptoe above the ordinary man. It happened so fast, with everyone wholly flabbergasted and stunned at the sight of the King's spirit that he was gone before anyone could raise their cameras or press any red button on recorders. No ocular proof of his presence remained except in our memories. For a brief moment, the aroma of a sweet heady scent of some familiar Hawaiian fern lingered in the room, and then it was gone. So too was our opportunity to capture the king's spirit on film.
