100 Ghost Stories Counting Down To Halloween 2025. #71. Right On Time.

 Good job.

You chose the most densely populated area on Oahu to do this. There are so many hauntings, cultural and modern, in Pearl City that you're swimming in more than electromagnetic energy. There's spiritual energy, too. Nightmarchers and much, much more. Did I mention mass murders, suicides, double murder suicides, from the waters of Pearl Harbor to the top beyond Pearl City high school and the Palisades trail? You're guaranteed to reach a portal; there's no doubt. You did make one mistake, though. You thought I wouldn't notice, but I did. I'm not as stupid as you look. The person taking the recording in the back seat? The two of you have been exchanging glances all evening. It's unspoken, but it's there, it's so obviously there. Nothing can be done about it because you've started your journey, left, right, left. Everyone is focused on their task except for you and that person in the back seat. You've doomed them all, John, you have. If you come up on that portal and those people are not dead by then, I'll be surprised. In fact, I want to be surprised, but I won't.

I had high hopes for you, John. It's why I hand-picked you for this task. You have no one. No one has you. You have your job, your hobbies, and your habits, but you have no one person in your life. Now, you exchange a brief glance with someone who has lost her husband and children in a car accident, and you suddenly think it's love, John? It's the seal to your fate if you don't get your head out of your ass. Focus on the map! Focus on the game!
